Descendants of the Lodz community who perished in the wars of Israel
In 2008, to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel, we published these pages – 137 of them, and they are entirely dedicated to our brothers and sisters who had perished in the wars of Israel.
Most of them are natives of Lodz and some from the proximate townships who had stayed in Lodz Ghetto
during WWII.
The list of those fallen in action is extremely varied. It includes British soldiers who had served in the Battalion
of the Royal Fusiliers and in the Royal Pioneer Corps, guardsmen, watchmen, Palmach and Haganah personnel, recruits of underground Zionist factions "Etzel" and "Lehi", IDF soldiers and Israel Police staff.
They include men and women, couples and siblings. Standing out in the list are Holocaust survivors who
had arrived to Israel immediately at the end of WWII, partially scolded survivors of the blaze, which were
so often the last remnants of their families that were annihilated by the Nazis, while they themselves ultimately
fell in the War of Independence.
The list reviews the fallen from 1915 and until this very day. Every name in the list is ascribed the details
known of him/her, as they appear in the "Yizkor" Website of the Ministry of Defense. Press any name and
you will arrive to the page dedicated to him/her. You may go back and forth between the pages by pressing
the link "Life Stories".
The pages are arranged chronologically according to the dates of death. In the event where we have omitted
a name, and if you have information regarding an additional fallen soldier, please send us his/her details.
My brothers, praised heroes:
